This month’s presentation will be provided by Wayne Cooper, Curriculum Manager at the NMIT Aviation School at Woodbourne. Wayne will update us on the establishment and operation of the school and the training that it provides for both civil and military aviation engineers and technicians.

The Vocational Education sector is undergoing significant change resulting from the Government’s Review of Vocational Education (ROVE). This and other factors such as the impact of Covid 19 and new military airworthiness regulations provide both challenges and opportunities for NMIT and its students and staff. Wayne’s presentation will provide a perspective on this.

Wayne began his career in the NZ Army where his roles included being a physical training instructor. As will be apparent from his qualifications, since leaving the Army Wayne has amassed an impressive background in education. He taught in four secondary schools before joining NMIT as the Manager of its NMIT and Engineering and Construction Programme and he took up his current position in the Aviation School in November 2019. His roles have often involved significant change management responsibilities.
