Blenheim Branch Meeting - Tour of the Airbus NZ Propulsion Maintenance Facility
When: Wednesday 17 February 2021 at 7.00pm Where: Airbus Propulsion Facility - 1 Tancred Crescent, Woodbourne Speakers: Tony Haussmann, Propulsion Team Lead of Airbus Australia Pacific NZ Operations
This month’s event will take the form of a visit to the Airbus Propulsion Maintenance facility. The visit will be hosted by Propulsion Team Lead Tony Haussmann (who presented with Geoff Blake at our December event) along with members of the team including Les Sircombe. Les will provide a run-down on the Non-Destructive Inspection Processes used to ensure the integrity of engine, propellor and rotor blades components rotating at extremely high speeds.
Those who have not visited the facility before may be surprised at the range and complexity of the work and the technology involved in keeping aircraft propulsion systems operating safely and efficiently – not to mention the cost!
The Airbus Blenheim facility is part of Airbus Australia Pacific NZ ( “the company formerly known as Safe Air Limited”!).
Important Note - Because the Airbus venue is a secure facility, unlike our usual meetings, please advise your intention to attend by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or text or phone on 021 664 920 so we can provide an estimate of numbers. Please bring a photo ID and if you are not an NZ Citizen please advise me of your citizenship – not a drama, just a matter of process.
Entry is at the western side of the facility, to the right of the airport terminal past the airport carpark. Some parking is available next to the facility. A map showing the western entrance to the propulsion facility is attached to the email notice.
The event is open to members, non-members, interested persons and guests. Tea and coffee will be available, and dress is casual.
