Wellington branch Meeting- Aviation QUIZ and VIDEO

SPEAKER: not applicable
TIME: 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start
VENUE: National SCOUT Centre, Level 1, 1 Kaiwharawhara Road, Wellington

This month we have an aviation quiz and video: Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber.
Many of you will have heard of and some may have even witnessed the accident to the RAF Vulcan Bomber, XH 498, during the display for the opening of Wellington International Airport on 26 October 1959. There will be a couple of short clips on the Wellington accident and then the video of the preparation and last flight of Vulcan XH558 on 28 October 2015.

Join us on Thursday 27 September at the National SCOUT Centre. Remember all our presentations are open to members, friends and the public.

Last month Isaac Henderson presented an overview of the historical uses of airships and where we are at today in terms of airship technology. Potential applications for modern airship technology were discussed with particular focus on the idea of using airships for tourism applications given the relative advantages of modern airship design in comparison to more conventional aircraft types. This was the subject of Isaac's master's thesis, and his recently published article in the journal Tourism Management.

Now, we need your help. Each year the Wellington Branch provides sponsorship for two youth events; The Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School and the Wellington NIWA Science and Technology Fair. The funding for this is from the successful sausage sizzle fundraisers we run each year. We need volunteers to assist at these sausage sizzles at Bunnings Warehouse Lyall Bay . Please can you spare a couple of hours on a Saturday in October or November to help? Here is a link to a Doodle for you to indicate when you can assist.
