Wellington branch - Monthly meeting "A New Era for Airships"
THURSDAY 23 AUGUST 2018
A New Era for Airships
5:30pm for a 6:00pm start
Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, Level 15, Asteron Centre, 55 Featherston St., Wellington
This month we have a presentation, "A New Era for Airships" by Isaac Henderson.
The presentation will provide an overview of the historical uses of airships and where we are at today in terms of airship technology. Potential applications for modern airship technology will be discussed with particular focus on the idea of using airships for tourism applications given the relative advantages of modern airship design in comparison to more conventional aircraft types. This was the subject of Isaac's master's thesis, and his recently published article in the journal Tourism Management.
Join us on Thursday 23 August at the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, Level 15, Asteron Centre, 55 Featherston St., Wellington. Remember all our presentations are open to members, friends and the public.
Please note that lift access to level 15 will be open until 6:00pm. There will be no lift access in after 6:00pm.
Last month the Wellington Branch had the privilege of hearing the Malcolm Wightwick Memorial Lecture delivered by well-known aviation historian and writer Brian Lockstone
. The topic was challenging: the relevance of aviation history to millennials. To put it another way perhaps, would today's younger generation rise to the occasion as did those of, say, 1914-18?
