DATE: Wed 27 September 2017
TIME: 19:30 hrs / 7.30pm
VENUE: Glenview Club, Peacockes Road, Glenview, Hamilton.
GUEST SPEAKER : Peter Stockwell
SUBJECT: L3 Airline Academy (NZ)

This business was formerly called CTC Aviation Training. Global demand for Airline Pilots over the next 20yrs is forecast to reach around 617,000. Can the flight training industry meet this high demand? L3 Airline Academy (NZ) is part of a large international company at the forefront of commercial pilot training, resourcing and simulation.

Peter Stockwell, who is L3 Airline Academy Director in NZ, will brief members on the pilot demand situation, describe L3's capabilities in delivering products and services to meet this demand, and talk about the commercial pilot training operation in Hamilton.

Thanks to those (28) who attended last month's meeting, when John Mounce gave us all a very interesting talk on "Aircraft on Stamps". This was well received by all present including four visitors from the local Philatelic Society Ham/group. John also threw in some fine shots of various a/c alongside the stamps and made the whole presentation a very rewarding one, and I'm sure enlightened most of us just how involved you can be if you want to be an avid collector. We were also shown some new display cases, which now house some of John's a/c memorabilia (hoarder!!) So thanks John, well done my learned friend.

Congratulations to Hugh McCarroll who received a Meritorious Service Award from the Royal Aeronautical Society NZ for his long time services to the aeronautical engineering fraternity and his contribution to the R.Ae.S society. Details of the award are published below from the RaeS NZ website.

Okay guys, on the local scene, there is an "update" meeting out at Te Kowhai (NZTE) Airfield on Sunday/24th September at 3pm, and those that would like to attend to find out just what is going to happen out there, you are most welcome, so mark it on your calendar and see you there.

Next month's meeting will be on Wed 25th October; Grant Finlay and Peter Ryan will do their presentation on "Oshkosh 2017" which they attended back in July.
